Shane Miley is an Irish-based artist from Wicklow, whose work is deeply influenced by his surroundings and his experience with synesthesia—the ability to perceive sound as colour and form. This sensory crossover forms the conceptual foundation of his work, resulting in richly layered compositions that blur the boundaries between hearing and seeing.
He graduated from the National College of Art and Design (NCAD) in 2025 with a BA (Hons) in Fine Art from the Painting Department. His studio practice spans painting, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, and digital media, informed by research into perception, sensory theory, and phenomenology. He creates work that invites the viewer into immersive, multi-sensory environments that ask us to reconsider how we interpret the world.
Rooted in deep material engagement and process-led exploration, Miley’s work balances intuitive gesture with structural awareness. His visual language, shaped by both personal sensory experience and formal training, seeks harmony through rhythm, contrast, and colour.
Miley has exhibited across Ireland, including a recent solo degree show at NCAD and group exhibitions at the Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA), Naas Arts Festival and multiple Dunlavin Art Festivals. His work is held in private collections throughout Ireland, Europe, and the United States.
